Bijay Sharma

Bijay Sharma is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Indoor Environment Group under the Energy Technologies Area of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He completed his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi which aimed at understanding the aerosol-induced oxidative stress and disease burden in biomass-dependent households of rural northeastern India. His research interest lies in understanding the ambient and indoor aerosol chemistry in general, their source profiles, transport, and atmospheric processing. It also encompasses assessing their impact on climate and human health. He is working jointly with Wanyu Rengie Chan and Brett Singer to characterize the residential methane emission from the Californian households to conceptualize and design potential mitigation measures to attain carbon neutrality and reduce greenhouse effect.
Dr. Sharma has authored/co-authored 8 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Education and honors:
2024: PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi.
2018: M.Sc. in Environmental Science from the Tezpur University (Gold Medalist).
